Meet the Puzios! Cassandra and Krystian were married on a rainy April weekend, but I was so grateful the rain let up at just the right moments for me to capture some gorgeous photos of their Chart House wedding day!
I kicked off the day with Krystian, capturing some groom details and portraits at his family home before heading to the ladies at Cassandra and Krystian’s apartment. Cassandra’s nieces couldn’t contain their excitement upon seeing her in her wedding dress – their reactions were priceless! Once everyone was primped and prepped, we made our way to Cassandra’s hometown parish, Holy Family in Nutley – where Cassandra and I are both from!
The ceremony was a beautiful Catholic mass, with Cassandra gliding down the aisle, leaving Krystian teary-eyed (be sure to check out that heartwarming moment below!). Cassandra and Krystian opted to have a wedding party with solely their nieces and nephews, and seeing them all walk down the aisle together was absolutely precious. Once they shared their vows, they officially became husband and wife! After the ceremony, we popped outside for their receiving line, followed by family portraits in the church. Then, I captured a few more portraits of the newlyweds with their vintage Rolls Royce before leaving for The Chart House.
The rain started to come down on the drive to Weehawken but let up for a few minutes while we went to the back of the venue to spend some time on their portraits! After that, we headed inside for their cocktail hour and reception.
Krystian’s family is Polish, and they began with a Polish wedding tradition of bread and salt. This gift of bread and salt is symbolic – bread is offered so that the couple may never know hunger, while salt reminds them of life’s difficulties and the importance of learning to cope. Then, a few of their friends and loved ones gave speeches and toasted to the newlyweds!
Cassandra and Krystian could not be more perfect for each other! They met through a serendipitous series of events: Cassandra got a new job and moved from Hoboken to Rutherford. Her neighbors, a couple her age, moved in the same month. Covid had hit, and Cassandra unknowingly adopted two cats with ringworm. Between her attempt to not spread bacteria and avoiding Covid, she was isolated for quite some time. Meanwhile, her neighbors were more carefree, having friends over. Multiple times that year, Krystian had just been one floor away from her. Her neighbors were aware of the ringworm, and after it was over, they began inviting Cassandra out with their friends. She met all of them except one. Once life started getting back to normal, Cassandra threw a “re-housewarming” party to celebrate her new apartment, ringworm-free! Her neighbors invited their friends, including Krystian (finally)! They became exclusive the next day!
Cassandra and Krystian, you were beyond wonderful to work with, and your love for each other was evident from the moment I met you both for your engagement session! I wish you two a lifetime of happiness and blessings!
